Why Democrats lose and what to do about it

Democrats are in the majority but Republicans control all branches of government. How this kind of thing happens has been known for hundreds of years. I wish we lived in a world where kindness and truth would inevitably win, but what does win is power. So those of us who value kindness and truth will either learn how power works, or continue to let the greedy win.

Response to Democratic Nat’l Committee Survey

I just received the DNC’s (Democratic National Committee) survey and I suddenly get why Republicans control most of government in spite of the fact that the majority of Americans believe in Democratic ideas like fairness, shared responsibility, and care for our fellow citizens. So instead of mindlessly taking the survey, I decided to send my insight to where I hope it can do some good. Please copy any parts of this article, and send your own letter to the DNC. I’ll include their address at the end. If enough of us do this, the DNC will have to listen.

We progressives have to improve the way we communicate our messages. Our facts are so good that it’s tempting to rely on them. But people are busy with their lives so we have to communicate those facts so they’re easy to understand. Author Drew Westen is one of the foremost authorities on exactly this subject.
