The Disarming Case to Act Right Now on Climate Change

Stockholm native Greta Thunberg first heard about climate change when she was 8 years old. She absorbed the solutions adults threw at her — recycle paper, study the data, train to be a climate scientist. None of it felt like enough. “What’s the point of learning facts in the school system,” she asks, “when the finest science from that system means nothing to our politicians and society?” In this passionate call to action, Greta explains why, in August 2018, she walked out of school and stood firm outside the Swedish parliament in an effort to prompt change. As she says: “We have all the facts and solutions. All we have to do is wake up and change.”

Why Democrats lose and what to do about it

Democrats are in the majority but Republicans control all branches of government. How this kind of thing happens has been known for hundreds of years. Response to Democratic Nat’l Committee Survey

If This Is America

‘If this is America, with a cabinet of terrorized toadies genuflecting to the Great Leader, a vice president offering a compliment every 12 seconds to Mussolini’s understudy, and a White House that believes in “alternative facts,” then it is time to “keep your head when all about you are losing theirs.”’.  Read Roger Cohen‘s article at

Progressives Must Improve Communication

We progressives have to improve the way we communicate our messages. Our facts are so good that it’s tempting to rely on them. But people are busy with their lives so we have to communicate those facts so they’re easy to understand. Author Drew Westen is one of the foremost authorities on exactly this subject. Below are some samples of his writing from one of his YouTube videos. He starts talking at about 3:30 and his talk is about an hour. His book “The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation” was published in 2008 but is still very relevant today. His website is here.
